FR[AI]ME

FR[AI]ME by AINOSTICS™ is a lightweight and powerful QuickLook extension for macOS, designed to give medical professionals, researchers, and students instant previews of common neuroimaging file formats.

With FR[AI]ME installed, simply press the spacebar in Finder to quickly visualize medical images in DICOM (.dcm), NIfTI (.nii, .nii.gz) and FreeSurfer (.mgh,.mgz) format—no need to open a full imaging suite.

- Folder Overlays: Preview folders full of images with support for overlaying images. Press spacebar on a folder full of images to quickly preview segmentations and other maps directly on top of their base images. 
- Preview 4D images: Easily scroll through individual volumes in a 4D image, with interactive b-vector previews for DWI data. 
- Supports Core Medical Formats: Preview DICOM*, NIfTI and MGZ files without extra software, with additional formats planned for future updates. 
- Streamlined Workflow: Quickly inspect imaging data directly in Finder before opening in specialized tools.
- Builtin FreeSurfer segmentation handling: Automatically preview FreeSurfer segmentation files using the FreeSurfer lookup table. 
- Works anywhere QuickLook works: Preview files on remote servers over FTP, SFTP etc. without needing to download them directly, using third-party apps such as Cyberduck and ForkLift.

FR[AI]ME offers limited previews of image metadata in it's free mode - subscribe for full image preview. By subscribing, you help us to cover significant costs required to develop the plugin, including a yearly Apple Developer account fee. Without it, it would not be possible to provide this plugin to you as a convenient download.

*DICOM support is experimental and does not cover the full DICOM standard. Please get in touch if you find any DICOM data that does not render correctly to help us expand DICOM support.
