Eye Focus Check scans your photos and scores how sharp the eyes are — so you can quickly spot the soft shots without opening every image. Drop in a folder or a selection of files. The app uses Apple's Vision framework to locate faces and animals, then measures sharpness at each eye using a Laplacian variance score. Higher score means sharper. Any image that falls below your threshold is flagged as soft. What it scores Left and right eye sharpness scores for every face and animal in the frame Multi-face shots: shows the best-scoring face; the image passes if any face clears the threshold Subject fallback: when no face or animal is found, scores the camera's autofocus point (from EXIF) or the centre of the frame Shallow DOF mode: at wide apertures, passes the image if the sharper eye meets the threshold Supported formats JPEG, HEIC, RAW formats (CR2, CR3, ARW, NEF, ORF, RW2, DNG, and more), TIFF, PNG, WebP, AVIF, and any format macOS can decode. Actions on soft images Any combination of the following can run automatically during the scan: Move soft files (and their sidecars — XMP, LRC, RAW+JPEG pairs) to a destination folder Rename files with a custom prefix or suffix Write an XMP keyword to the sidecar (appears as a filterable label in Lightroom, Capture One, and Bridge) Export a CSV log of all results Built for speed Scans run in parallel across all your CPU cores. A folder of several thousand images scans in seconds on modern hardware. Non-destructive by default Disable Move and Rename to scan in read-only mode. The score columns show you which shots are soft; you decide what to do with them. Useful if your photos are managed by Lightroom, Capture One, or any other catalog app — no broken catalog links.
