ENCODING & LINE ENDINGS, DONE RIGHT • Encoding picker on Save As: UTF-8, UTF-8 with BOM, UTF-16 LE/BE, Windows-1252 (ANSI), Mac Roman. • Auto-detection on Open via BOM and content sniffing. • Line endings preserved: open a CRLF file, save it back as CRLF. LF stays LF. CR stays CR. BIG-FILE SAFE Memory-mapped reads. Files up to 100 MB open instantly. Files 100 MB – 1 GB prompt for confirmation. Files larger than 1 GB are politely refused.
