Prokopton delivers one Stoic quote to your phone each day — nothing more, and nothing less
Prokopton delivers one Stoic quote to your phone each day — nothing more, and nothing less.
The word prokopē (προκοπή) is ancient Greek for "progress." The Stoics used it
to describe the ongoing, quiet work of becoming a better person. Not through grand
gestures, but through small, daily acts of attention.
That is what this app is. One notification. One thought. One day.
THE QUOTES
Over 400 hand-curated entries drawn from three foundational Stoic texts:
- Meditations: Marcus Aurelius
- Selected works: Seneca
- Enchiridion: Epictetus
Each quote is assigned to one of the three disciplines at the heart of Stoic
practice: Desire, Action, and Assent. You can filter to whichever discipline
you are working on, or receive quotes from all three.
HOW IT WORKS
Each day, within a time window you choose, a single notification arrives. The quote arrives in your notification — open the app for the full reading view, or simply read it on your lock screen.
If you do open the app, you will find the quote displayed in a clean,
typography-focused reading view. You can save favourites with a single tap.
THE SHUFFLE
Prokopton tracks which quotes you have already seen. You will work through
the entire library before any quote repeats. The order is
shuffled — no two users experience the same sequence.
HOME SCREEN WIDGET
A small and medium widget keeps the current quote visible on your Home Screen
throughout the day, without opening the app.
WHAT THIS APP DOES NOT DO
No algorithm. No feed. No streaks. No gamification. No account required.
No internet connection required — ever. No data leaves your device. No ads.
