PLOSINT Image Indexer is a local-first image analysis and search tool built for professionals who work with large collections of images in investigative, research, and analytical contexts. The app indexes images in folders you explicitly select and enables powerful ways to explore and understand visual data — without relying on cloud services or external servers. All processing happens locally on your Mac. Key capabilities include: Visual tag search Automatically generated visual tags allow you to search images by objects, scenes, and concepts. Multiple search terms can be combined with confidence thresholds to narrow results precisely. Text recognition (OCR) Search for text that appears inside images, including documents, screenshots, posters, and scanned material. OCR results are fully searchable and displayed directly alongside the image preview. Notes and annotations Add your own notes to individual images and search across them later. This supports analytical workflows where images need contextual interpretation, hypotheses, or cross-references. Metadata and EXIF inspection View detailed image metadata, including EXIF, IPTC, PNG, XMP, and Spotlight information. This is especially useful for provenance analysis, documentation review, and validation tasks.
