LumiVault is a native macOS archiving app for people who want their photo library to survive bit rot, dead drives, corrupted sectors, and the slow churn of software they no longer control. Import albums from Apple Photos in one step, archive them onto external drives with error correction, and mirror to Backblaze B2 cloud storage — all in open, standards-based formats that you own outright.

WHY LUMIVAULT

Cloud-only photo services lock your library inside a proprietary database. External drives forget what's on them. Backups quietly rot. LumiVault flips the model: every file lives on disk in its original format, alongside a portable catalog.json and standard PAR2 parity files that any third-party tool can read. Your archive outlives the app.

HOW IT WORKS

• Browse and select albums from your Apple Photos library
• Each photo is hashed with SHA-256 — duplicates are detected across every connected volume and never stored twice
• Files are wrapped in standard PAR2 2.0 Reed-Solomon recovery data, protecting you against bit rot during long term storage
• Mirror to one or many external drives with security-scoped bookmarks
• Optional AES-256-GCM per-file encryption with PBKDF2 key derivation
• Optional upload to Backblaze B2 cloud storage via the official REST API

INTEGRITY YOU CAN VERIFY

LumiVault doesn't just store your files — it actively defends them. Re-hash any album against its stored SHA-256 to detect corruption, then auto-repair from a healthy volume or via PAR2 Reed-Solomon recovery. The Reconciliation tab scans every volume and your B2 bucket for dangling references, orphan files, missing entries, and hash mismatches, with one-click resolution for each.

Open source and built for macOS 26 with SwiftUI, SwiftData, PhotoKit, CryptoKit, and Metal. Zero third-party dependencies — every line of code uses Apple frameworks, so the app stays sharp as the OS evolves and there's no supply chain to audit.
