LensTrails brings relevant planning data together and turns it into practical recommendations.
Short-term suggestions evaluate your saved locations using their character, tags, preferred timing, shooting direction, weather, rain, wind, visibility, cloud layers, sunrise and sunset quality, sun position, moonlight, night-sky conditions, aurora potential, light pollution and tides where relevant.
Each suggestion provides a score, recommended time window, direction to face and a clear explanation of why the conditions may work.
Long-term suggestions help identify the best typical month and time of day to return, so good ideas do not disappear into an archive.

PLAN WEATHER, LIGHT AND SKY

See current conditions and a five-day forecast for every saved location, including temperature, rain risk, wind, humidity, visibility and low, medium and high cloud cover. A 24-hour cloud graph makes changing conditions easy to understand.
Plan daylight, golden hour, blue hour, sunrise and sunset. Map overlays and the Sky Path camera preview show how the sun moves around the scene before you travel.
Prepare for moon, stars and Milky Way photography using moon phase, illumination, rise and set times, altitude, direction, Milky Way position, visibility windows and moon-brightness warnings.
In relevant regions, LensTrails also evaluates aurora potential together with darkness, timing and cloud cover.

FIND DARKER SKIES

Explore light pollution directly on the map. See the intensity around a location, understand which direction nearby light sources may affect and include darkness in night-shoot recommendations.

PLAN COASTAL PHOTOGRAPHY

Relevant coastal locations include five-day tide forecasts and detailed tide curves. LensTrails can consider tide timing when suggesting shoots involving beaches, rocks, reflections, access and moving water. Tide information is for planning only, not navigation or safety decisions.

MADE FOR THE FIELD

Search the map by address or place, check elevation while exploring, navigate with your preferred mapping app, share locations through standard map links and receive reminders for places you planned to revisit.
Export your journal as GPX or CSV. Your locations are never published or crowdsourced. They remain private on your iPhone, with optional private iCloud sync between your Apple devices.
