Disappointing Accuracy — Not Worth the Price

I really wanted to like CARROT Weather. I’ve been using it since August, hoping it would live up to the reputation of being a better alternative to Dark Sky. Unfortunately, my experience has been the opposite. The biggest problem is the hyper-local precipitation alerts. In my experience, they are wrong roughly 95% of the time. Just yesterday, I received an alert saying rain would begin in about five minutes. I immediately opened CARROT’s radar to see what was approaching—and there was no rain showing anywhere within roughly 50 miles of my location. That’s not a minor miss; it makes the alert essentially useless. The regular forecasts have also been disappointing. Temperatures are frequently off by several degrees, and I’ve had numerous occasions where rain was forecast but never materialized in my area. For a weather app that emphasizes detailed and accurate forecasting, I expected considerably better performance. The other issue is the price. CARROT offers a lot of features, but I have a hard time justifying the subscription cost when the most important thing I need from a weather app—the actual weather forecast and precipitation alerts—isn’t consistently accurate. I was hoping CARROT would give me the experience I loved with Dark Sky. Instead, after several months of use, I find myself getting results that are not noticeably better than Apple Weather, which now incorporates technology from Dark Sky. I genuinely want to like this app, and I probably would if it were free or substantially less expensive. But at its current price, I simply can’t recommend it based on my experience. The personality and features are fun, but for me, accuracy has to come first in a weather app.

  Best weather app

I’m sold on carrot weather app, I have tried so many looking for the app that had everything I needed from a weather app and carrot hits that mark. It has a weather radar map built into the Apple Watch app and it makes weather fun. I love the latest update with the become a weather man addition. Keep up the great work meatbags I’m a fan for life
