Svenska Stegvis (Swedish Step by Step) is a vocabulary app for people studying Swedish through SFI (Svenska för invandrare) or other foundational Swedish literacy.

Flashcards are scheduled using spaced repetition — each word is queued for review at the right pace before you'd forget it. Cards move through three stages: New → Learning → Mastered. A time-based mastery gate means your progress reflects genuine retention.

**Four ways to practice**
The Practice tab offers four interactive exercise modes on top of flashcard review:
  • Listening Quiz — A Swedish word plays aloud. Choose the correct English meaning from four options. Builds listening comprehension without reading the word first.
  • Word Ordering — Hear a Swedish sentence, then arrange the scrambled words into the correct order. Trains grammar intuition through active reconstruction.
  • Pronunciation — Listen to a word, then record yourself saying it. Get instant feedback on whether you were understood. Recognition runs on-device.
  • Spelling — Hear the Swedish word, type it yourself, and build stronger listening and writing skills through active recall.

All four modes draw from the same deck in studying, and every exercise reinforces current vocabulary.

Each card includes the Swedish word, part of speech, conjugations, a translation, an example sentence with translation, and IPA phonetic hints.
