Unreliable at opening doors
We used to have simple key fob entry at our property. It worked without fail. They “upgraded” to this butterfly system a couple years ago, and I never know if I’m going to be able to get into the building. Maybe 25% of the time I end up having to just wait outside for somebody else to show up. Usually when I swipe to enter, it will take 5 or 10 seconds to try to connect with the door. Then half the time it turns green. The other half I get the “We couldn’t open your door” message. So I try again, and after 10 seconds, half the time it lets me in. Sometimes it takes several tries. Other times I have to fully restart my phone for it to work. Other times I end up just waiting for someone else to be going in, which is lots of fun when it’s freezing outside. A bunch of other residents have complained about the same thing, but still others seem to have no problem getting in, so it’s kind of a mystery. The old key fobs weren’t so fancy but they worked every time. Another problem is if your phone’s battery dies, then you’re definitely stuck until someone else comes along. The key fob never ran out of battery… just sayin. I imagine they’re still trying to work out the kinks in the system to make it more reliable, as I see lots of “bug fix” updates for the app. I keep hoping one day they’ll get around to fixing the one affecting me.

Bad, Unreliable, a Hassle, Tracking
The app is extremely slow to unlock a door… this used to be a simple process with a key fob… then. This data broker comes in with an app called ButterflyMX that tracks virtually every move I make using my phone and online. I disabled and deleted cookies for the app… over 100 “required” cookies? No thank you! I also cannot stand that opening a door requires bringing my phone, unlocking my phone, opening this tracking software app, selecting which door I want to open, then hoping that the door will unlock. So far so bad. I hope my apartment complex realizes their mistake soon and gets us out of this privacy nightmare.
