Bombay Gymkhana

Bombay Gymkhana, established on 19th June 1875, is one of India’s most premier sporting institutions with a rich legacy. This iconic establishment is located at the junction of two major avenues — the Esplanade (now Mahatma Gandhi Road) and Hornby Road (now Dadabhai Naoroji Road) — an area surrounded by heritage structures. Originally built as a British-only club, it was designed by English architect John Adams.
 
A true sports powerhouse, Bombay Gymkhana was the first club in Mumbai to introduce polo. Another historic first was the hosting of India’s first-ever Test Match, played in December 1933 (15–18), 1933
The Club conducts a wide range of sporting activities for its members. Sports played at Bombay Gymkhana include:
Badminton, Bridge, Cricket, Football, Hockey, Mahjong, Padel, Rugby, Snooker & Billiards, Squash, Swimming, Table Tennis, and Tennis.
In addition, the club regularly hosts sporting events at state, national, and international levels, with several members earning international sporting accolades.
