The reproductive performance of the cow and heifer is one of the most important factors that influence profitability in modern cattle farms. Hormone treatment protocols are a safe and effective tool to address certain reproductive ailments, for oestrous detection and insemination, or to increase the number of ova produced in a single cycle. For the latter, FSH treatments (Folltropin®) are provided for IVD (in vivo derived) and IVP (in vitro produced) embryo production. However, this requires multiple injections that must be respected to optimise the treatment. In other words, the mistiming of, or forgetting, injections will likely reduce the optimal effectiveness of the protocol. Tailored for farmers, the Vetoquinol® HTA app provides a gentle reminder on when to inject your cows. After a quick and simple download of the application to your mobile phone, enter your farm name and location. You can review the “settings” button to select your preferred language, and other practical specifications. By clicking on the “ADD NEW” button you can then enter the name or ID # of the donor cow you will be treating. You have 3 protocol choices, (A) 8 injections AM-PM, (B) 8 injections PM-AM, (C) “Custom” which allows you to enter the number of injections in either an AM-PM or PM-AM configuration. Select the date and time at which you want to make your first injection. Then, select the type of sound (silent, chime, alarm, moo). After confirming the protocol choice, you can view all your ongoing protocols and their details in the “Protocols” section. The HTA app will send alerts 30 and 3 minutes prior to a pending injection. The red dot visual display beside the time of the pending injection will disappear 1 hour after it was scheduled. After the last alert in a protocol to a specific cow, it will be archived in the “Past protocols” file for one year. You can also delete an ongoing protocol from the app. IMPORTANT NOTES: (1) For the HTA app to function properly, you must allow the reception of alert notifications. (2) To view the most up-to-date notification state of the app, refresh the protocol list with the provided button.
