Drag a folder onto another folder with the same name and Finder asks one question — and if you pick "Replace", everything in the destination is gone. Mergd is the merge Finder should have. Select two folders, right-click, "Merge Safely…" — and before anything happens, you see exactly what will: what's new, what's identical, and where the conflicts are. **Preview first, always.** Every merge shows the full plan — files copied, files skipped, conflicts and how each will resolve — before a single file moves. Nothing runs until you confirm. **Nothing is ever hard-deleted.** When a file is replaced, the old version goes to the Trash — recoverable, always. On volumes without a Trash, Mergd quarantines originals in a "_Merged Originals" folder instead. There is no code path in Mergd that permanently deletes a file. **Conflicts, your way.** Keep the newest, keep both (the incoming copy is renamed beside the original), keep the destination — globally or per file, with Quick Look on either version before you decide. **Safe with the dangerous stuff.** Photo libraries, apps, and other bundles are treated as single units and never merged internally. iCloud files that aren't downloaded are flagged, not silently copied as empty ghosts. A merge interrupted by sleep or a yanked drive is detected and resumed — never left half-done in silence. **Fast where it can be.** Merging within the same APFS disk uses Apple's clone technology: near-instant, no extra space. 100% local.
