Press the space bar. See your file.
macOS can no longer preview several formats that designers and print
professionals work with every day. Bitmap-mode Photoshop files show a
blank icon. EPS files show nothing at all. You end up opening Photoshop
or Illustrator just to find out what a file contains.
MonoLook restores those previews.
WHAT YOU GET
• Quick Look previews — press the space bar in Finder
• Finder thumbnails — see your artwork in icon and list views
• Preview in the Get Info window
• Pinch or ⌘+ to zoom in on fine detail
BUILT FOR THE FILES macOS GIVES UP ON
Bitmap-mode Photoshop files
1-bit artwork is decoded by MonoLook's own parser. A 21,000 × 28,000
pixel press-ready file opens in under a second.
EPS with embedded previews
MonoLook reads the preview data directly. It also handles palette-based
previews that macOS itself renders incorrectly — files that appear as
striped or truncated images elsewhere display correctly here.
Everything else
Grayscale, RGB, CMYK and indexed Photoshop files are passed through at
full quality, so installing MonoLook never makes anything worse.
When a file has no preview data to show, MonoLook tells you why instead
of leaving you with a blank icon.
PRIVACY
MonoLook works entirely on your Mac. No accounts, no network access,
no data collection.
ONE-TIME PURCHASE
