From the App Store SourcePassportrait checks your passport photo against the U.S. Department of State's published requirements — before you pay the fee and wait weeks to find out. It measures more than thirty things: head height and eye line, how square you are to the camera, background brightness, color and shadows, whether your eyes are open and your expression is neutral, sharpness, glare, and whether the file has been edited or is too old to submit. CHECKING IS FREE Every check you fail comes with what to change, in plain language. Not a score, not a percentage — the actual problem and the actual fix. GUIDED CAPTURE Hold the phone at arm's length and fill the outline. The app watches your framing and takes the photo itself once you have held still — so you are looking at the lens when it fires, not at a button. ALREADY HAVE A PHOTO? Check it instead. The report is identical. WHEN YOU UNLOCK • The 2x2 inch submission file, cropped and encoded to the published spec • A printable 6-up sheet that fills a 6x4 inch print exactly • One purchase. Unlimited photos and unlimited retakes, for everyone in the family. Nothing is altered in your photograph. It is cropped and resized, which the rules require; the content is never retouched, which the rules prohibit. GPS is stripped from the file you submit. The capture date and camera are kept, because they are true and they are the evidence the photo is recent. YOUR PHOTO NEVER LEAVES YOUR PHONE Every measurement runs on device. Nothing is uploaded and nothing is collected. WHAT THIS IS NOT We are not the government and cannot guarantee your application will be accepted. Some things a phone cannot judge — the dimensions of a print, the paper it is on, or color balance under lighting we cannot see. What this app does is catch the mistakes that actually get photos rejected, and tell you while you can still do something about it.
