About

From the App Store Source
Origami Text is a free, open-source reader for EPUBs with rich interactivity, deep accessibility and robust citing. Where a PDF locks words to a page and a web page loses its structure the moment you copy from it, Origami flavor EPUBs carry their citations, headings, footnotes, glossary and spatial layout as real, extractable data, so you can fold them into the view you need — full text, outline, references, notes or a spatial map of the document's parts — and unfold them again without losing anything. Follow a citation and see the actual source, not just a number. Highlights and notes live with the document in the open W3C annotation format, with no account or server required, and a reading address you can paste anywhere reopens the same document at the same position, in the same view, with the same marks, even years later. Convert Word documents (including with Zotero and Mendeley citations) and LaTeX projects into Origami EPUB; every Origami document is a valid EPUB, so it opens in ordinary e-readers and degrades gracefully where advanced features aren't supported. Read-aloud, dark mode and custom themes apply to every document for extended accessibility. The format is a documented, MIT-licensed profile of EPUB plus plain JSON with a public validator, designed to sit alongside PDF rather than replace it. Built by The Augmented Text Company, makers of Author and Reader, with the Future Text Lab and the Future of Text community.
