Rosie Sola ★★★★★ v2.8.17 2026-10-01
This game is WEIRD!…and that’s exactly why I love it!
We Happy Restaurant is genuinely such a fun game, in my personal opinion. It’s the kind of game I’d call a perfect time burner, especially for people who have a lot going on in their lives but still want something fun to check in on every now and then. One of the biggest reasons I enjoy it so much is the entire concept. I absolutely love the bizarre alien food, the suspicious ingredients, and the fact that everything happening in this restaurant is obviously questionable, yet the customers barely seem to care. Even when something seems strange, they basically shrug it off and keep eating. There’s something hilariously exciting about running what appears to be a perfectly normal restaurant with excellent service and a giant smile on your face, while secretly serving customers burgers and other foods made from strange, industrialized, experimental ingredients. Everything looks normal enough on the surface, but underneath it all, the restaurant is completely bizarre. And THAT is exactly what I love about it. I really appreciate the artistic direction and creativity that went into this game. Whether it was created by one person or an entire team, whoever came up with this concept did an amazing job. The artwork, machines, strange foods, customers, mutations, and overall atmosphere are so exquisitely weird. This is exactly the kind of bizarre art and creativity I enjoy. I’ve always found strange concepts fascinating, especially things involving alien-looking food, unfamiliar objects, experimental creations, and things that feel just slightly foreign to the human world. I’ve been playing We Happy Restaurant on and off for probably two or three years now. Honestly, I don’t even remember anymore. I just know I’ve had this game for a LONG time. Over that time, I’ve slowly worked my way toward building my dream restaurant operation without really needing to spend actual money. I save up, buy another machine when I can afford it, start producing things, and then go handle whatever else I need to do in real life. When I eventually come back, my machines have finished their work and I can continue expanding. That’s another reason the game works so well for me. It doesn’t demand my constant attention. You don’t have to sit there intensely strategizing every second. You can play for a while, leave, come back later, collect everything, upgrade something, buy another machine, and continue. Before you realize it, you’ve slowly built this enormous operation. Meanwhile, I get to sit there watching these tiny people happily eat suspicious fake food while I gradually build my bizarre restaurant empire. There’s something wonderfully evil about it. I genuinely love this game. I’m not exaggerating for the sake of a review, either. I’m just a regular person who stumbled across We Happy Restaurant like everyone else, started playing it, and somehow ended up becoming genuinely fascinated by its weird little world. For anyone interested in trying it, I would keep in mind that it’s definitely a slower type of game. A lot of the satisfaction comes from gradually building things up over time rather than constantly being given something huge and exciting to do. It takes some patience and a willingness to let your restaurant grow little by little. Because of that, it probably won’t click with everybody, and that’s completely fine. If you prefer games with constant action, quick progression, or lots of complicated mechanics to analyze, you might eventually start noticing little things that bother you or simply lose interest. But if you enjoy casual games where you can check in, make some progress, disappear for a while, and come back to your tiny suspicious food empire later, you might have a lot more fun with it. For me, though? I’m perfectly happy running my questionable restaurant and feeding these poor unsuspecting people alien burgers.
